Project description
We are sequencing and analyzing the genomes of Nasonia vitripennis, lognicornis and giraulti. These are three related parasitic wasps that allow the power of haploid genetics to be used for laboratory experiments, allow the study of bio-control of agricultural insects due to their parasitic nature and are an excellent study of a recent speculation event amongst other attributes.
We have sequenced the genome of Nasonia vitripennis to six fold coverage and assembled that sequence. Additionally, N. giraulti and N. longicornis have been sequenced to one fold coverage to identify polymorphisms and allow for QTL cloning based on introgression between the species.
Annotation and analysis of these sequences is the primary aim of this wiki - leading to publication of the analysis of the sequences.
